What is a pak file and how do I open a pak file?

PAK files are compressed files referring to the compressed DOS-originated archive format by which they contain numerous files. Even if PAK files are categorized as compressed files and even if these files are mostly compressed with ZLIB compression, the data usually contained in these files may or not be compressed. These PAK files can be opened on both Windows and MAC environment and there are several applications used to open these files. One is the Smith Micro StuffIt Deluxe versions 2010 and 2011; an application used to compress files, secure them as well as send them. These files can also be opened using the Corel WinZip 16 Pro application; a tool containing automated data backup facility, allowing users to prevent data loss effectively.
