What is a pck file and how do I open a pck file?
Files with the PCK extension are system files developed by Microsoft. They are mostly known as System Center Configuration Manager Package Files because they are mainly used by System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) wherein this application is necessary when it comes to administering large groups of Windows computer systems. PCK files refer to the update package for storing system and application files which is why these files are needed to update client systems. The distribution of PCK files requires the SCCM software to build a compressed PCK file first together with the source files and after that, to send it to a Distribution Point (DP) computer. This distribution point is what allows available packages to be downloaded by registered client computers in order for the software to be updated. Aside from the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, the Microsoft Preload Package Tool can also be used to open PCK files. This software is useful for the manual installation of compressed copies of software distribution package source files.
