What is a cdx file and how do I open a cdx file?
Files in the CDX format are also called compound index files and are similar to IDX files used by database applications supported by Microsoft Windows. IDX files are on the other hand called compact index files. Leaf nodes in the lower sections of a compound index stored in a CDX file are associated to certain tags in the index, unlike the index of an IDX file. The content of these CDX files are generally indices of data found in a supported database. Microsoft developed the CDX format and the Microsoft Visual FoxPro program, which is an application that can be used to create, open and view the content of a CDX database file for further modification. Users of Microsoft Windows can install the Microsoft Visual FoxPro software to start creating and viewing the content of these CDX files or add content to existing CDX database files. Also, the native index database files implemented by the Microsoft Visual FoxPro software are CDX files with compound indices.
