What is a part file and how do I open a part file?
The PART file extension indicates a Partial Download. Many download managers store parts of downloads in temporary PART files until the download is complete. They are most commonly associated with files that have been partially downloaded from the Internet. The download may have been aborted at some point during the process, or it is still in progress. Common programs that use the .part file extension include eMule and Go!Zilla. While .part files cannot be opened themselves, there are programs that can help you continue the download and retrieval process if a download is interrupted. When the download of a file is interrupted during the process for some reason, and the software entry has been removed from the DTA download manager, this is when the most common occurrence of the .part file happens.
Although for these file types are mostly unreadable, there are several applications that can retrieve the .part files and continue the download from where it was left off.
