What is an ipf file and how do I open an ipf file?

The IPF file extension is used for an SMS Installer Script developed by Microsoft Corporation.  IPF file trims the installation process and pass the ability to further allow additional features to be installed or uninstall programs and repair any application.  SMS (System Management Server) is also used to deploy Installer Setup packages to various computers at the same time (.MSI files).  Windows Installer or previously called Microsoft Installer is software component that is used for maintenance, installation and removal of any software used by Microsoft Windows.  The files and information that are packaged for installation include arranged databases and  COM interfaces which are known as MSI files.  Features include automatic generation of uninstallation sequence and Graphical User Interface.  Windows Installer has undergone numerous changes from its previous Setup API.  It is also presented as a single stand alone executable installer.  Microsoft has encouraged users to accept it as the basis for installation frameworks for purposes of synchronization of other installed products of Microsoft.
