What is an ifc file and how do I open an ifc file?
A BIM program is classified as Building Information Management software, and some of these applications can be used to create an industry foundation classes file. These industry foundation classes files are stored with open source encoding specifications used for the IFC format and are saved as IFC files with the .ifc extension. These IFC files are categorized as 3D image files, and the content of an ICF file may include digital building and facility design objects among other visual elements entered into the IFC file by the author of the image. These building and facility designs may include digital images of materials used for constructing the building or facility, its shape and spatial elements like the dimensions of the building's different sections. Promoting interoperability is the main objective for the development of the IFC file format, which means these IFC files and the encoding and compression specifications integrated into these IFC files can be used across different DIM programs.
