What is a lit file and how do I open a lit file?
The LIT file extension is used for an eBook file created by Microsoft Corporation. eBook is the electronic version of any book whose content is taken or downloaded from the web and usually read via a computer or an eBook reader. It is also known by other names like electronic book, e-editions and digital book. eBook represents also a software application that is installed to a computer or any reading devices. This software is called Microsoft Reader, a program solely created for this purpose by Microsoft and released to the public in 2000. Microsoft Reader uses .LIT (literature) formats when viewed by users. LIT is the extension of compressed html format by Microsoft. The features of Microsoft reader include quick note taking, highlighting, text notes, searching, increased readability on small screens and plug-in which enables eBooks to be read aloud (text-to-speech). There were several hardwares that came out in 1998 which utilized Microsoft Reader but were not readily accepted. At present, there are updated models of eBook readers that are being offered for use and with added features.
