What is an inx file and how do I open an inx file?
The INX file extension was developed by Adobe Systems and the files that are saved using this extension are known as Adobe InDesign Interchange Files, categorized as Page Layout Files. INX files are the documents that Adobe InDesign exports in XML format and they contain descriptions of an InDesign (.INDD) file which includes page content, colors, guides, pages, text frames, margins, etc. Most of the InDesign CS2 files that are exported to the INX format can be accessed with the use of InDesign CS. In fact, the InDesign CS recognizes all page contents and formatting except for the features that are available in InDesign CS2 alone such as the footnotes, tracked changes, imported PSD files with layers, SING glyphlets, anchored objects and object styles. When exporting an InDesign document in the INX format, users must choose File→Export first and then select InDesign Interchange found in either the Formats menu (Mac) or the File Type menu (Windows) before saving it.
