What is a book file and how do I open a book file?
Files saved in the BOOK format are digital books or ebooks developed using the Adobe FrameMaker 10 software. These BOOK files are also called FrameMaker book files, but are generally classified as page layout files. A user can create a digital book using the Adobe FrameMaker 10 software, and the content of this digital book can be entered by the user with formatting elements and other page layout attributes, most of which is stored in the BOOK file associated to the digital book development project saved by the user. This is so the Adobe FrameMaker 10 application can reference the data stored in the .book file currently being viewed by the user, and this reference data may include other FrameMaker documents saved in the FM format. Adobe Systems also developed the BOOK format so users of the Adobe FrameMaker 10 software can easily combine different FrameMaker documents into a large project that can be saved in a file with the .book extension. The Adobe FrameMaker 10 software can be installed in compatible Microsoft Windows-based systems to implement support for creating, opening and editing these BOOK and FM files.
