The NOTEBOOK file extension is also known as the SMART Notebook File which was developed by SMART Technologies. The NOTEBOOK file format is associated with SMART Notebook software. This software allows teachers to create dynamic classroom lecture materials. It contains notes, diagrams, images, audio, video, flash animations. It is used for storing and sharing digital lesson notes with teachers and students. It is a zipped set of XML and SVG files. NOTEBOOK files replaced older .xbk files in order to incorporate more advanced features and make it more diverse. Files in NOTEBOOK format can be opened with the SMART Technologies Notebook and SMART Technologies Notebook Express in Microsoft Windows, Linux and Mac OS platforms. To Fix a Corrupt Smart Notebook File Click "Start," type "cmd" in the "Search" box and press "Enter.  “Type "chkdsk c: /r" and press "Enter," commanding the computer to repair disk errors on the "C" drive containing your SMART files. Press "Y" to confirm and restart computer.
