What is a wpd file and how do I open a wpd file?
WordPerfect document is a text document made by Corel WordPerfect, a popular word processor, contains formatted text, tables, drawn objects, and images; stored in a proprietary Corel format, but can be exported to other formats from within WordPerfect. Corel discontinued the DOS and Macintosh versions of WordPerfect in 1997. The company still develops the Windows version and includes it as the primary application within the WordPerfect Office suite. Microsoft Word can open most versions of WPD files. The WPD file extension identifies document files in the WordPerfect format. Files in the .wpd extension are made by the WordPerfect word processor by Corel. Alan Ashton and Bruce Bastian who founded the Word Perfect Corporation primarily developed WordPerfect. WordPerfect was the ultimate standard in word processors used in a wide variety of operating systems and computers in 1980’s. It was used with Microsoft Windows, MS-DOS, Linux, Mac OS, and Apple, and there are versions as well for UNIX, Data General, VMS, AmigaOS, and OS/2, System/370 and NeXTSTEP. Files with the .wpd extension contain professional, high quality documents produced by WordPerfect. Documents with the .wpd file extension are created the same as to the way raw HTML pages are produced.
